Yikes
The Florida Republicans want to keep blacks from voting.
A secret document obtained from inside Bush campaign headquarters in Florida suggests a plan - possibly in violation of US law - to disrupt voting in the state's African-American voting districts, a BBC Newsnight investigation reveals.

Bureaucratize me
I filed out the form for our HMO policy the other day and had to choose a doctor, so I selected my normal Dr. I see. A couple days later I get a envelope from the insurance Co. that says I "didn't provide" them with my birthdate (i.e. they forgot to enter it). So I send in the corrected form. A couple days later, I get another letter saying that my doctor "does not currently handle patients in your age range." Apparently, until they recieve the other form, I am currently 0 years old to them and have to see a pediatrician. Awesome.

Automate Me
Somehow I think that the automated ad (highlighted in red) was a little off in targeting me for playing the game "gold strike"

Kerry Up in Early Exit Poll!
According to an unofficial exit poll of absentee voters, John Kerry leads George Bush by two votes in New York, namely, mine and nuzun's.
Swish.
Seriously though, if you're in NY and you didn't apply for an absentee ballot, you can go down to your borough Board of Elections office(not the 32 Broadway main office) to vote in person between now and November 1. Just go there and ask for an "in-person absentee ballot".

Deep Thoughts
Everytime I hear a piece of dialogue in the Law + Order that is not on Wednesday, a little piece of me dies inside.
Also, why is Ice T in it? Why?

Wierd
So I was on the A train this morning and in the tube under the East River, the train slowed down. When we got to Chambers Street, they didn't open the doors. I saw a bunch of policemen outside the car I was in and they opened one of the doors to let an officer in. He was holding what looked like a large beeper, but turned out to be a geiger counter. He walked all the way through the car and then asked if anyone had a stress test recently. The woman immediately in front of him said that she had and she was escorted off the train. Then they let us all off.
Conclusion: MTA has put radi@tion sens0rs in the system that are sophisticated enough to pick up about 0.001 rm of r@diation. That is definitely reassuring - I hope they have them throughout the system.
P.S. Sorry for the lack of posts - new job has kept me busy... more later.

Root for the Home Team!
Finally- baseball is coming back to DC!
Upside- I get to root for a team called the:
Washington Senators
Washington Representatives
Washington Monuments
Washington Gridlock
Washington Impeachments
Washington Ex-Class Presidents
Washington Quagmire (allllright!)
Washington Swampmonsters
Downside- I lost $5 in a bet I made with Joe B over two years ago that the team would go to Virginia. Best $5 I ever lost.
Wierd Upside- D.C. Stadium Traffic Seen as Not All Bad (washingtonpost.com)
